Quotes on being Genuine,...

I really am adoring of these quotes ...It is always a daily, focus for me to harness my true genuine sense of self, that may have a couple witty & sarcastic thorns..but i like them....i do not want to become anyone void of any true perspective ..I really call it how I see it & feel it in life :) As I have learned this protects me overall..... But also to me it is important to be sensitive to life, to cultures, to being kind & patient with myself and those I love...I am truly a mellow playful spirit, but I do enjoy a bit of banter, being honest, and calling things out when they need to be :)

To add: anybody that uses words like it is a good idea to be "dissing," someone or a group of people.as  I read this morning, & you think from such a known company, this person would have some elements of education and sophistication.....is just so ugly to me..Who even encourages third grade level slange at a major corporation is just baffling to me...

You have to learn to see people for what they truly are dear, not their hair, or their smile...or their position at a firm, etc...but truly see...Those kind of statements tell all. I would never even associate with someone after that...& from a spiritual perspective, I just do not believe in mingling with spirits that I sense are not good...The spirit never truly changes, it is today what it will be tomorrow, no matter what performance is presented for the general public & to you :)

I truly thrive best in relationships where my genuine qualities, projects for people for voices that are not heard, or other thoughts are appreciated....It is not me being bitter, because I have depth and appreciate more than just the surface elements of life....Because I am genuine, kind , loving, authentic, and passionate about what & whom matters to me...& i do not encourage people I love & others with immature, unsavory  ideas of hating groups of people and otherwise...It's sad when people truly cannot discern between the good people & the bad people in life...To me it is very apparent :) It takes only a few signs and statements to truly see someone and their true nature...Life teaches you in time to only make relationships & hold dear with truly healthy and precious spirits to us...

“The difference between my darkness and your darkness is that I can look at my own badness in the face and accept its existence while you are busy covering your mirror with a white linen sheet. The difference between my sins and your sins is that when I sin I know I'm sinning while you have actually fallen prey to your own fabricated illusions. I am a siren, a mermaid; I know that I am beautiful while basking on the ocean's waves and I know that I can eat flesh and bones at the bottom of the sea. You are a white witch, a wizard; your spells are manipulations and your cauldron from hell yet you wrap yourself in white and wear a silver wig.”

“I was tired of pretending that I was someone else just to get along with people, just for the sake of having friendships.”
― Kurt Cobain

“Genuine love is rarely an emotional space where needs are instantly gratified. To know love we have to invest time and commitment...'dreaming that love will save us, solve all our problems or provide a steady state of bliss or security only keeps us stuck in wishful fantasy, undermining the real power of the love -- which is to transform us.' Many people want love to function like a drug, giving them an immediate and sustained high. They want to do nothing, just passively receive the good feeling.”

“When you're socially awkward, you're isolated more than usual, and when you're isolated more than usual, your creativity is less compromised by what has already been said and done. All your hope in life starts to depend on your craft, so you try to perfect it. One reason I stay isolated more than the average person is to keep my creativity as fierce as possible. Being the odd one out may have its temporary disadvantages, but more importantly, it has its permanent advantages.”

Albert Camus
“But, you know, I feel more fellowship with the defeated than with saints. Heroism and sanctity don't really appeal to me, I imagine. What interests me is being a man.”
― Albert Camus, The Plague

“I’d never seen a man cry before, only on TV. I’d never even seen Dad close to crying. Those tears looked so odd on you. It was like the strength of you just seemed to sap away. The surprise of it stopped me from being so scared.”
― Lucy Christopher, Stolen: A Letter to My Captor

“If you are a warrior, decency means that you are not cheating anybody at all. You are not even about to cheat anybody. There is a sense of straightforwardness and simplicity. With setting-sun vision, or vision based on cowardice, straightforwardness is always a problem. If people have some story or news to tell somebody else, first of all they are either excited or disappointed. Then they begin to figure out how to tell their news. They develop a plan, which leads them completely away from simply telling it. By the time a person hears the news, it is not news at all, but opinion. It becomes a message of some kind, rather than fresh, straightforward news. Decency is the absence of strategy. It is of utmost importance to realize that the warrior’s approach should be simple-minded sometimes, very simple and straightforward. That makes it very beautiful: you having nothing up your sleeve; therefore a sense of genuineness comes through. That is decency.”

“Love your neighbor, even the ones who do not show you the same courtesy. You can’t expect to receive love if you’re selective and not really willing to give it. What you put into the world, you will indeed get back, even if it’s not from the person you’re expecting it to be.”

“Silk is a fine, delicate, soft, illuminating, beautiful substance. But you can never rip it! If a man takes this tender silk and attempts to tear it, and cannot tear it, is he in his right mind to say "This silk is fake! I thought it was soft, I thought it was delicate, but look, I cannot even tear it" ? Surely, this man is not in his right mind! The silk is not fake! This silk is 100% real. It's the man who is stupid!”

“There is a law of the natural worlds (the spiritual and the physical) and this is something I have understood: that for every genuine existence, for every real manifestation and occurrence, there are are ten thousand falsities. Before you meet what or who is genuine, you will first have met, or known of, what is fake; and ten thousand times so! There is no need to feel disappointments, any number below ten thousand deceptions renders you a lucky person! And you ask why is there a need for this to happen? Well, if you have not known what is false first, there is no way to understand what then comes which is truth. What is lesser is so afraid of what is genuine, that it finds it necessary to imitate and duplicate that imitation ten thousand times over, for fear that you will finally meet what is real. The more important that one existence is, the more imitations there are in the world.”

“Charm is often despised but I can never see why. No one has it who isn't capable of genuinely liking others, at least at the actual moment of meeting and speaking. Charm is always genuine; it may be superficial but it isn't false.”
― P.D. James, The Children of Men
Liezi
“Some people think they can find satisfaction in good food, fine clothes, lively music, and sexual pleasure. However, when they have all these things, they are not satisfied. They realize happiness is not simply having their material needs met. Thus, society has set up a system of rewards that go beyond material goods. These include titles, social recognition, status, and political power, all wrapped up in a package called self-fulfillment. Attracted by these prizes and goaded on by social pressure, people spend their short lives tiring body and mind to chase after these goals. Perhaps this gives them the feeling that they have achieved something in their lives, but in reality they have sacrificed a lot in life. They can no longer see, hear, act, feel, or think from their hearts. Everything they do is dictated by whether it can get them social gains. In the end, they've spent their lives following other people's demands and never lived a life of their own. How different is this from the life of a slave or a prisoner?”

“Ten minutes with a genuine friend is better than years spent with anyone less.”

“I once knew a man who was heir to the throne of a great kingdom, he lived as a ranger and fought his destiny to sit on a throne but in his blood he was a king. I also knew a man who was the king of a small kingdom, it was very small and his throne very humble but he and his people were all brave and worthy conquerors. And I knew a man who sat on a magnificent throne of a big and majestic kingdom, but he was not a king at all, he was only a cowardly steward. If you are the king of a great kingdom, you will always be the only king though you live in the bushes. If you are the king of a small kingdom, you can lead your people in worth and honor and together conquer anything. And if you are not a king, though you sit on the king’s throne and drape yourself in many fine robes of silk and velvet, you are still not the king and you will never be one.”

“Who you are in public is a test of your conviction; who you are in private, integrity.”
― Criss Jami, Healology

“It was such an unexpected and genuine smile that if I only had a soul I'm sure I would have felt quite guilty.”
― Jeff Lindsay, Darkly Dreaming Dexter
Michael Bassey Johnson
“Flattery does not encourage the perfect flow of love in the vein of your relationship. Be genuine and speak out what you feel for each other without hiding the painful truth.”
― Michael Bassey Johnson

“I nodded with genuine synthetic sympathy.”
― Jeff Lindsay, Darkly Dreaming Dexter
Kamila Shamsie
“We never actually have serious conversations about anything for more than 20 seconds. So there’s a beautiful superficiality to our relationship which sometimes gets covered up by all the genuine affection flowing back and forth.”
― Kamila Shamsie, Kartography
“A relationship that is truly genuine does not keep changing its colors. Real gold never rusts. If a relationship is really solid and golden, it will be unbreakable. Not even Time can destroy its shine.”
― Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem
Michelle Tillis Lederman
“It is through the strength of what is genuine that meaningful connections build into relationships.”
― Michelle Tillis Lederman, 11 Laws of Likability
Criss Jami
“Some people's theologies come across as blatantly wrong when weighed against what is revealed in Scripture. However God has mercy on those who may be wrong but genuinely seek understanding before seeking themselves.”
― Criss Jami, Killosophy
